Here at Evolve, we wanted to show some love and say thank you to our unsung heroes. The people who have kept us all going through the last few months. From the busy parents who became teachers over night, to our own product artisans who have been working hard to still create your favourite Evolve products during lockdown. There are so many people out there who deserve recognition, so we want to help.
We want to hear stories of your own heroes. Those people in your life who might not know just how amazing they are, or the impact of what they are doing. So to say thanks, we have 5 skincare packages to give away to unsung heroes. All you have to do is tell us your story of how amazing they are, and your hero will be entered into a draw to win one!
Update: We want to share as many amazing stories as we can do, but there are a lot of unsung heroes out there, and we've had so many entrants we are struggling to keep up! If you've submitted a story but don't see it on the wall please know that we are trying to publish as many as we can and that they will all be entered into the giveaway. We are reading every single unsung hero story that is sent to us, and we want to say thanks again to all of the amazing people out there, and thank you for your patience.
"My daughter who is only 22 and and works for the NHS. She graduated from university in November last year, and she got home & started her job at the end of November and she’s been working constant 12 hour shifts since the coronavirus started. She is my hero and I love her very much for her dedication and hard work she does."
Nicola about her daughter Priya
"Kerrie is the Head at the school where I teach. She kept the school open for Key Worker children and worked the entire Easter holiday. She supported all her teachers so they could deliver daily online live teaching to all the children, and helped them get to grips with technology. The children didn't miss out on any of their education. She even made weekly assembly videos for the whole school, to celebrate how well everyone was doing. She made sure the children and staff were safe when Nursery, Reception and Year 6 returned on 1 June and did such a great job, she was able to bring back the rest of the school for the final few weeks of term. This was wonderful for the children's mental wellbeing - and the parents too... Kerrie has worked every day and evening since March's lockdown and few know the hours of work and worry that have gone into achieving the best for all the children and the staff too. She is our hero."
Jenny's story about her headteacher Kerrie
"I'd like to nominate my partner who cares for me with my disability. She works as well and also helps a disabled gentleman, even taking the dog out! She cooks, cleans and previously gave up a good job to look after her parents who have sadly passed away, and she never gets the credit she deserves. She is a prize of nature and I would nominate her every day. I love her to bits.
A lovely story from Paul about his partner Janet
"I am nominating my daughter-in-law, Stacie. She works in the operating theatres at West Suffolk Hospital. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic she had to change roles completely and be on the frontline Covid ward, caring for patients. She accepted and adapted to this new role with enthusiasm; working 13 hour shifts. She combined all this with caring for her 3 year old daughter, Isla, and continuing to study for a nursing qualification. She has been utterly amazing and really deserves a treat."
Cathy's story about her daughter-in-law Stacie
"My unsung hero is Claire. She is a mum to 2 boys, and a veterinary surgeon who has worked all through lockdown to make sure other people’s animals had the care they needed when unwell during a time where doing so was a risk to her and the other staff in the clinic."
Maria saying thank you on behalf of all of the animals!
"My lovely mum. She works for a care home and they have really suffered throughout this time- she even had Covid-19 herself and yet still checked in on all of us to make sure we were okay. The care home is all dementia residents and they haven’t been allowed any visitors so have had some very stressed and upset relatives to tend too, over phone and email, too. My mum is awesome! They were so short of PPE, and what they did have has rubbed their faces raw, and they have very little time to pamper themselves so this would be perfect for her."
Georgie's lovely story about her mum Mandy
"My mum has been an NHS Nurse for nearly 20 years. She has been working throughout covid 19, supporting her colleagues and caring for patients. I am also a new mother with a 7 month old baby. She has been helping myself and my sister with the 3 grandchildren. Whilst also helping to care for my father who has cancer and other long term conditions. I am also training to become a nurse because of my mother. She really deserves something to show how much we love and appreciate her and all the hard work she has been doing. She is so selfless and never asks for anything in return. She is a credit to the family and also to the NHS. She has also decided to isolate away from us due to my father being in the vulnerable shielding group. She deserves so much and this is just a small way of showing that was she has done for us all and the sacrifices have not gone unnoticed."
Amanda's very loving message to Janet
"An awesome mummy to three lovely children 16,10 & 7... and me at age 43... She's on call 24/7 & has made the last few months of lockdown a pleasure."
Stuart's thankful that Samantha has been on hand to help with all of the childcare...
"My hero is my sister. She is living with her fiance in a small flat in London. Just before the lockdown his mum was diagnosed with cancer and he had to go back to Greece. She had to stay at home during the quarantine alone. And even though all bad things are happening, she stayed positive and strong all that time."
Eleni's story about her hero and sister, Theofili
"My unsung hero is my Mom. For the last five months I have been having to shield with my partner due to his underlying health conditions so we have been really limited in what we can do. My mom lives in England and I live in Wales so we haven’t been able to see each other which has been really hard but even from afar she has made sure that we have had food shops, she has been sending us things we need through the post, including little treats such as my favourite cruelty free bath bombs to cheer me up. Whilst doing what she could for me from afar, she had also been looking after my grandparents (her parents). My grandad (her dad) unfortunately had covid but we were incredibly lucky that he survived after two weeks in hospital. During this time she was the sole carer for my Nan (her Mom) and this entire time she has been doing their weekly food shops, mowing their lawn, looking after their garden, keeping their house clean and just all around being the absolute rock of our entire family and all the while doing it whilst she is hurting because she couldn’t see her daughters. I don’t exaggerate when I say that none of us know what we would have done without her during this awful year. Thank you for your time reading this."
Amy's incredibly touching message to her mum Jaki
"My unsung hero is my husband, who has worked every single day of the week throughout lockdown, never missing a day. He has worked delivering PPE to health centres and hospitals and then come home and helped me with keeping the kids entertained and helped with their schoolwork."
Andrea's shoutout to Ian the superhero!
"Oh my goodness, my twin sister Anita. She's been amazing!!! She's been shopping for me, the vulnerable and she's not been able to work, so as a fitness instructor she's been filming free fitness sessions for everyone to enjoy. She's been through enough herself but still makes time for others. Anita has helped me to sort out my garden when she was allowed to and as my husband is a key worker, he's been working from home one day a week, so it's nice to have company, even if it's online. I know she's my twin, and we do chat every day, but as I said, she's had to put up with a lot during lock down but she's just got on with helping us all out, including her neighbour whose husband passed away with dementia. Thank you Anita, you're a #superstar 🤗💜"
Sunita's message to Anita!
"I would like to thank my choir leader Helen. Throughout lockdown she has worked her socks off to try and find innovative ways to hold rehearsals via Zoom making sure that no one gets left out and knows how to use the system. Through this I have been able to stay in touch with my friends and this has enabled all of us to support one another through this strange and frightening time."
Sarah H - Sales Coordinator at Evolve
"I would like to say a big thank you to the team at the Scratching Post Cat Sanctuary in Waltham Abbey from which we rescued our first cat Super Tom. I’ve seen via their social posts that they have been hard at work looking after a large number of cats in the local area throughout lockdown, all with slowly diminishing funds, but they have still managed to do an incredible job. At least lockdown won’t have been lonely with so many cats!"
Connor - Digital & Ecommerce Manager at Evolve
"I would love to give my friend Mauri a huge shout out for working on the shop floor of a busy organic grocer throughout the pandemic. He would travel via public transport for over an hour to make sure that hundreds of customers could buy food for themselves and their family every day. Thank you Mauri and thank you to all the other brave supermarket workers who kept the nation going in such dark times. You rock!"
Chiara - Business Development Manager at Evolve
"I would like to give my friend, Gina, a shout out because she is superman. I don’t know how she does it but she juggles an NHS work life and motherhood perfectly, and still has time to be an amazing friend 24/7. She’s kept me sane through this lockdown!"
Zainab - Graphics & Content Assistant at Evolve
"I would like to give my friend Natalie a big thank you. She has spent her lockdown as a student doctor helping everyone in need whilst putting her life on pause. Not only has she moved 200 miles away from friends and family, she has continued with university exams whilst working 12 hours shifts. Natalie, you’re amazing!"
Izzy - Digital Marketing Assistant at Evolve
"I would like to say thank you so much to the teachers at my son’s school, particularly his form teacher Tanya. They worked super hard during lock down devising school work that could be done online and in the past few weeks they have managed to bring all of the children in the entire Junior school back to physical school. They have worked so hard to make the last few weeks of Junior school special for all of the children leaving the school this month."
