why nasties are nasty and natural is better

we have gone to a great deal of trouble to make products that are 99-100% natural with the highest % of organic ingredients possible. why is this important??

no nasties

evidence is growing that some synthetic ingredients have potentially toxic side effects. the environmental working group's campaign for safe cosmetics has compiled a database (the skindeep database) of all of the available safety data on ingredients and provides a rating on each. we have avoided all of the ingredients with known safety issues as part of our no nasties policy.

independently verified

the organic bodies such as ECOCERT provide an independent verification of our no nasties stance. as well as standardising the use of the word "organic", they also prevent the use of any unapproved synthetic or contaminated ingredients that might be toxic or hazardous. this is one of the main reasons we chose to certify our products organically.

99-100% natural

we use very few synthetic ingredients. in some cases, we have needed to use a safe synthetic food grade preservative to make sure our products are safe and don't go mouldy on the shelf. we declare which ingredients are natural on the additional information page for each product on our website.

natural fragrance

all of our fragrances are derived from natural fragrance components which are marked "parfum" on the label. an ingredient that helps to preserve our products is also marked "parfum" as it is a natural fragrance derived from corn/basil. this is why "parfum" occurs quite high up the list of ingredients (which are listed in descending order).
