Fair trade

At evolve, as well as environmental awareness, we are also committed to supporting the welfare of others globally.  Here is more information about our Fair Trade ingredients’ origins, our suppliers, and their role in our products.

A Berber Women's CooperativeThe argan oil we use is certified organic and ethically sourced from a women’s Berber group run by a Targanine cooperative network on a UNESCO World Heritage Site overseen by Yamana (an NGO)  in Morocco. It is labeled fair trade by the French association Bio Partenaire. The regulation of the farming of argan oil has changed workers’ lives and the surrounding communities.  Zaima, a worker from the coop says -

“I used to stay at home; I never had a job before. The cooperative allows me to earn a regular income by myself. It also helps us to buy goods we need... My daily life has changed a lot thanks to my job in the cooperative. I have been able to get my teeth seen to. Life at home is different, because we have easier access to water and electricity. Beforehand, I had to walk up to the well with a donkey. Thanks to my wages, I can pay my bills every month. My husband is ill and cannot work. This is why my job is a great help. I hope that the cooperative will remain stable, and stay the same as it is now.”

Argan oil has long been used by Moroccans in their beauty regimes.  It is rich in linoleic acid, omega-6 and tocopherols, which means when used the skin is nourished, renewed and protected against free radical damage.  Find it in our Heavenly Smooth Body Cream and our Multi Peptide Single and Double Creams.

The Omega Project Inchi HarvestersOur Skin Cocoon Body Cream harnesses the wonderful moisturising properties of the superfood organic inca inchi oil, which is sourced from the OMEGA project in Peru. The OMEGA project promotes reforestation of the Amazon region, has created over 8000 jobs for Peruvians and is labeled fair trade by Max Havelaar.  The OMEGA project aims are to ensure respect for the environment alongside the farmers’ quality of life, making sure they have enough to cover their living needs, whilst also linking back to the plant crop and oil production quality; developing farmers’ skills, advancing the technology available to them and promoting organic farming methods to obtain the highest quality oil.

Inchi oil has the highest naturally found concentration of omega-3 oil and with over 80% content of omega-3 and omega-6, inchi oil has many benefits in skin care.  It moisturises even the driest and most sensitive skin types, whilst also promoting regeneration and providing protection against oxidation and free radical damage.  The nourishing qualities of the oil also make for a great after sun product.
